PMA was established in Switzerland in 1975 for the development, production and sale of top-quality systems for cable protection. The company rapidly acquired an excellent worldwide reputation for quality products and became established as a market leader in railway, shipbuilding and mechanical engineering applications. PMA products were also widely used in applications requiring dependable protection for power and data cables, such as building installations, automation, and other sensitive projects.

After some management restructuring and mergers, PMA was eventually acquired by the North American electrical corporation,Thomas & Betts, and under their aegis subsequently became part of the ABB Group. The PMA manufacturing centre is in the greater Zurich area, where they produce the majority of their goods destined for the world market, as well as carrying out intensive R&D activities. The ABB Group HQ is also in Zurich, and operates in some 100 countries worldwide, employing around 145,000 people.

Cable Protection

We supply PMA non-metallic flexible conduits that provide protection for critical data and power cables where they might be exposed to environmental hazards or mechanical stress. There are very few applications where such conduits cannot be used, providing vital protection in such sectors as telecommunications, installations for generating solar and wind energy, medical equipment, industrial machinery, construction, railways and electrical systems on ships.

Conduit

PMA from ABB also offers a large selection of single and multi-layered conduit types, to meet a variety of high technical demands. Conduits come in various light to heavy weights and range in size from 4.5-125mm in diameter. Many specialist conduits are offered with regional or application approvals, such as UL/CSA, SNCF, etc., and materials range from the pliable to very flexible. We can supply PMAFLEX conduit in more than 30 different types, and high-performance PMAFLEX Pro for really demanding parameters. Over-Extruded multi-layer Conduit offers additional assured protection for applications with stricter requirements and the PMA Ex-System supplies the first patented multi-layer polyamide conduit for use in explosion endangered zones.

We can supply PMA Special Conduits designed specifically for robotics and automation, which are extremely flexible and deliver a longer service life.
